Smith and Wesson 2nd Model .38 DA Revolver --Unfired--

This is a nice untouched example of an early 2nd Model S&W Double Action Revolver. It does not appear to have ever been fired. Standard 3-1/4" Barrel, five-shot cylinder, .38 S&W caliber, nickel-plated finish, and checkered hard rubber grips with S&W monograms. The 2nd Model DA was produced from 1880 to 1884 and featured an improved oval-shaped sideplate which gave the frame additional strength over its 1st model predecessor. Serial number is in the 103,000 with all matching numbers...circa 1884.

Overall Condition grades to NRA Antique Excellent Plus. The frame and straps retain 98% original nickel with some freckling beginning to form on the side panels. Cylinder has 95% nickel which the barrel is 98% nickel with a little bit of light corrosion on the edge of the left barrel rib (see photo). Case colors on the hammer and trigger are Excellent. Trigger guard and barrel latch show 85% original blue with balance beginning to turn to a brown patina. Grips are Excellent...no chips, cracks, or repairs...checkering is sharp. Near Flawless. Mechanics are mint. Barrel latches tightly to the frame. Bore is Mint and mirror bright...still unfired.
