Smith and Wesson Model One, 3rd Issue Revolver Mfd Circa 1870

Antique Pre-1898 Smith and Wesson Model One, 3rd Issue Single Action Revolver. Standard 7-shot cylinder in .22 short with proper 3-3/16" Tip Up Barrel. Blued finish with Varnished Rosewood grips. The 3rd Issue was manufactured from 1868 to 1881. It was the final extension of the Model One which Smith and Wesson introduced in 1857 as the world's first successful cartridge gun. Its improvements over the 1st and 2nd Issues were a stronger cast steel frame, fluted cylinder, round streamlined barrel, and rounded birdshead shaped grips. They were numbered in their own serial range from 1 to over 130,000...this one being in the 37,000 range. Circa 1870 Production. Overall Condition Grades to NRA Antique Excellent with 95% original blue overall including the gripstraps which are still nearly perfect. Good Bore that has strong rifling with a few scattered light pits. Original Rosewood Grips retain 98% original deep lustre piano varnish with perfect fit to the gripstraps. Excellent markings/knurlings with very good pins and screws with nice straight slots throughout. Nice example of early Smith and Wesson Watchmaker-Grade craftsmanship. Antique, No FFL Required in most states. Please know your state and local laws before contacting us. No sales to NY, DC, Chicago, NJ, HI, etc. $20.00 shipping.
