Smith and Wesson DA Frontier Revolver

This is a nice solid example of a large frame Smith and Wesson Double Action Frontier Revolver in 44-40. Serial number in the 7XXX range.  Matching numbers.  Pre-1898 Antique.  5" Barrel. 1-9/16" cylinder with half-flutes and double sets of stop notches. Blued finish with case-colored hammer and trigger.  Checkered hard rubber grips.  100% original with all matching numbers. Condition grades to NRA Antique Fine overall with 55% original blue overall with balance turned to a pleasing plum brown patina.  Hammer shows 70% original case colors while trigger retains 20%. Excellent markings and edges. Good+ screws and pins.  Original hard rubber grips are in Fine+ condition with sharp checkering, no chips, or cracks, and exhibit perfect fit to the metal handle straps.  Strong mechanics in both single and double action modes.  Cylinder indexes correctly, top-break action still has positive lock-up, and star ejector works flawlessly when barrel is tipped forward.  Bore is nearly perfect...bright and shiny with sharp rifling with a few minor spots of corrosion.  A good looking Antique 44 DA S&W Frontier.
