Early 1st Year Production Winchester 1892 Rifle

This is another very strong example of an early Model 1892 Winchester Rifle.  Early Antique Four digit serial number is in the 4900 range and dates its production to 1892. Only 16% of Model 1892 production qualify as Pre-1898 Antiques and only 2.3% are 1st year production.  Of that small number, you won't find many early 1892's in this condition!

This one is a standard sporting rifle in Caliber .32 WCF with 24" octagon barrel, full magazine, and crescent rifle buttplate.  Overall condition is NRA Antique Excellent with 95% bright original receiver blue with only minor freckling.  There is one screw on the right side of the frame that's boogered and scratched around the hole from someone using the wrong size screw-driver...that's really the only notable flaw on the entire gun.  The rifle doesn't show much use as the blue is even strong in high wear areas like the belly of the frame and upper tang....both have full coverage of the original blue.  The loading port still shows 90% bright fire blue.  Bolt has 98% strong bright blue as well with the extractor colors turned mostly over to straw hues. Early style hammer with decorative knurled border has 75% original case colors while the lever has 20-25% darkened colors remaining.  The barrel and magazine tube still have 95% original blue with nice early 2 line barrel address and untouched original sights that include the early German silver front and Semi-buckhorn rear sight. Forend cap has 85% bright blue no wear...the balance it just brown freckling.  Nice screws and all correct early markings. The wood is in Fine+++ to Excellent overall condition still showing lots of raised grain and nearly all of its original varnish intact.  Wood to metal fit is perfect with no cracks....just a few minor dings and some light scratches.  Action is perfect and bore is Fine+ condition...still shiny with strong rifling.  A very strong example of an early Model 1892 rifle.  Its not very often we find guns with low serial numbers and its very difficult to obtain one still in NRA Antique Excellent condition.
