This is a nice specimen of an original dual cavity bullet/ball Mold for the Colt Model 1855 Revolving shotgun. Caliber is .60 (20 gauge) with top of the sprue cutter clearly marked "COLTS PATENT". Colt only built about 1100 Model 1855 revolving shotguns in 10 and 20 gauges so you can imagine these are not abundant in today's market. Robin Rapley's book on Colt Accoutrements describes the .60 Caliber Mold as "extremely rare".
Overall condition is Very Good to Fine with some original blue (25-35%) patches mixed in with dark patina. Internally, the cavities still show most of their original blue with some light rust in the bottoms of each mold. Wooden handles are in near excellent condition with original finish....one tiny 1/2" hairline crack at end of left handle. Brass end caps are in nice shape with a dark patina. An exceptionally nice Mold.
