Colt New Line Revolver in .38 CF

This is a large-frame Colt New Line Revolver in .38 Centerfire.  2nd Model with the long style cylinder flutes and folding loading gate. 2 1/4" barrel with 5 shot cylinder. Nickel plated finish with rosewood grips.  Etched Panel on left side of the barrel reads "COLT NEW 38".  Left side of frame below cylinder marked "38 CAL" with "C" to the side indicating the Centerfire chambered instead of Rimfire. Serial number is in the low 12,000 range indicating it was one of the last 500 New Lines in .38 produced in 1880.

Overall condition is NRA Antique Fine+ with 85% original nickel plating intact.  Very good screws and pins have turned to a nice attractive patina with traces of fire blue showing  on a few.  Hammer still shows some of its original bright polish on the sides with much of the original fire blue intact along the back face.  Excellent markings throughout.  Excellent Rosewood retain 95% original piano varnish that still give off a nice lustrous glow over the dark rosewood.  No chips, cracks, or repairs and perfect wood to metal fit.  Action works very well.
