Nice old 1870's era photograph of a young and very well armed frontiersman. He is holding a nice early Winchester 1866 yellowboy rifle. On his belt is a revolver tucked inside a leather flap holster and a large bowie knife. The Winchester appears to be an early one as its all brass mounted, has the ladder sight up close to the frame, and has an original leather sling. Sling swivels are typically found on Winchester Model 66 production up until the mid-latter 1870s. Best of all, he is identified on the back as "James F. Edge son of Joseph G. Edge (Uncle Joe)...Taken at Sioux City." Measures approximately 2 1/8" by 3 1/2". Matting/Backing about 2 1/2" by 4". Very good condition. Image is light and appears to be a bit faded. We will darken up one of the photos to give it a little more contrast. Just bear in mind that the darker image has been edited. Original is lighter. Matte has gold border and a little bit of darkening around the back edge from age. A good image that should be researched.
